According to authorities, officers discovered Thomas Koch unresponsive at the Lombardy Drive home at around 4:15 p.m. Sunday. His two children, ages 9 and 5, were at the home when officers arrived.
A hypodermic needle and other residue-laden drug paraphernalia were found in plain view and accessible to the children, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear who called police.
Koch, 30, was rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was treated for the overdose. After regaining consciousness, Koch was released from the hospital and taken into custody at the Seventh Precinct and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.
Koch was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Monday. According to officials, a notification to Child Protective Services was made.
