Jose Luis Saenz, one of the nation's most wanted fugitives, was captured after being on the run for 14 years.
Saenz, an accused drug cartel hitman and Los Angeles gang member, allegedly killed two rival gang members in July 1998. Eleven days later he kidnapped, raped, and killed his girlfriend and mother of his child, Sigreta Fernandez. Police officials say Fernandez was murdered to keep her from revealing his role in the double murder.
Saenz avoided being captured by using 21 aliases. According to Bill Lewis, the FBI Assistant Director in charge of the case, Saenz was arrested under the alias Giovanni Torres. He also evaded arrests by changing his appearance.
"[He] removed the tattoos on his arms," said Lewis, "his fingerprints he used to use crazy glue on his fingertips."
According to officials Jose Luis Saenz was charged with three counts of murder, kidnapping, and rape. An arrest warrant was also issued by the Los Angeles County.
