Constance White was named editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine. She succeeds Angela Burt-Murray, who left the magazine in November. White was formerly the style director of eBay and has also worked at Talk Magazine, The New York Times, and Elle.

The 17th annual ESSENCE Music Festival (EMF) will take place July 1-3 in New Orleans.
This year's headliners include: Usher, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Chaka Khan, Jill Scott, New Edition and many more.
Nighttime concerts take place at the Louisiana Superdome, while the free daytime ESSENCE Empowerment Experience seminars are held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
