It's know not only for it's old world charm, but also as the setting for Stephan King's famous horror novel and movie, The Shining. The hotel is also known for its resident ghost, Kate Morgan, who checked into the resort on November 25, 1982 and never checked out. In late October an annual Halloween Ghost Hunt is held on Old Montreal's small cobblestone streets where guests are split into teams and go on a mission around town to hunt down ghosts.
