Randall Roberts


Randall Roberts is a staff writer covering music for the Los Angeles Times, and pens the weekly California Sounds music column. He keeps an eye on genres including pop, hip-hop, rock, EDM, country, folk and international sounds. During his time at the paper he has been music editor and pop music critic. His work has been honored by the L.A. Press Club, the National Assn. of Black Journalists, the James Beard Foundation and others. His 2009 story, “On the Road to Burma: Ozomatli, Unlikely U.S. Diplomats” was included in the “Best Music Writing 2010” anthology. Roberts has been a radio and club DJ, worked music retail as an indie and EDM buyer at a major Midwest record store, and remains a steadfast believer in the supremacy of vinyl.
