NIXA, Mo. -- City police hope someone will recognize a man who held up a Walgreens pharmacy at knife point early Tuesday and got away with prescription drugs.
Store security video from the Walgreens store near Missouri 14 at U.S. 160/Missouri 13 show a man wielding a knife at about 3:40 a.m. The video shows the man forced a store employee to take him back to the pharmacy, where he demanded a list of drugs. Police said the robber managed to take off with a bag full of pills.
Police describe the robber as white, about 5-foot-10, with a slight or medium build.
"He was wearing a dark black coat with a hood on and a camouflage ski mask, not the cloth type, but the type you just put on your face and velcro to the back of your head," said Nixa Police Det. Jason Hartsell.
Including the Tuesday robbery, there have been four Walgreens holdups in the area since late October. The other three, also early morning hits, happened in Springfield.
Nixa police said following the robberies in Springfield, many stores that stay open overnight hired extra security. However, police said, no guard was working at the store at the time of the robbery early Tuesday.
