Members of the Kansas congressional delegation were among those who attended a celebration in Winfield Thursday.
The event marked the $26.6 million expansion of the Rubbermaid facility. It also included the groundbreaking of a neighboring 500,000 square foot distribution facility.
Rubbermaid announced the facility's expansion in late 2011 saying 200 jobs would be relocated from Texas.
"We had a big factory there and so there were about 500 jobs that were in that factory that will no longer be there and that's a hard choice to make but in the world we're in today that's a choice we need to make."
Rubbermaid’s Winfield facility manufactures outdoor storage and outdoor living products, as well as insulated water coolers and ice chests. The plant will also add production of outdoor refuse and home organization products.
