Derby police are looking for a man, after they say he stabbed his girlfriend at a Fourth of July party.
Officers say both were at a home on the 700 block of South Woodlawn in Derby when they got into a fight. That's when the man stabbed his 23-year old girlfriend several times in the chest and stomach.
"He did flee the scene. We did put out the word looking for the van that he left in." said Derby Police Lieutenant Jimmy Queen. "We believe we found, it but we are not sure at this point."Police found the van near an industrial park south of Kellogg and East of Webb Road in Wichita. Someone broke into a business there. Officers searched it and the nearby area, but found no one.
Police are still looking for the suspect, 24-year-old Jared Lee Woosypiti. Authorities said he has been charged with attempted murder.
Woosypiti is described as a white man, about 5'10" tall, weighing 210 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a bulky gray sweatshirt. He may be driving a light blue 2006 Dodge Caravan with "Woodbridge Home Exteriors" on the front driver and passenger doors.
