Some record highs will be tied or broken in the next few days across Kansas. Afternoon temperatures will be almost 20 degrees above normal and several areas in western Kansas could see new record highs, especially on Thursday.
The wind will be increasing the next few days and so will the temperatures. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny across the area with Wednesdays highs getting into the lower 70s for central and eastern Kansas, and should reach the upper 70s in the west. The wind will be out of the south with some gusts approaching 35 mph during the afternoon.
By Thursday, even warmer temperaures are expected with much of the state getting above 80 degrees.
With such warm temperatures and strong winds, high fire danger will be in place, especially across western Kansas.
