Shortly after 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Anchorage Police Swing Shift Patrol officers responded to a robbery at the Brown Jug liquor store at 930 W. 5th Avenue, according to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker.
Witnesses told officers that five suspects had fought with store employees while attempting to steal liquor. The two male employees sufferend face and head injuries. A pregnant female witness was also assaulted by one of the suspects; he struck her in the face while she was calling 911 on her cell phone.
The following suspects have been arrested:
Sandra Blix, 18; Trevor Moore-Barras, 20; Torrence Barras, 20; Malotuman Tuinei, 18; and Izacc Tuinei, 20.
Police believe the suspects entered the liquor store intending to steal liquor. Officials state that when Trevor Moore-Barras was confronted by one of the employees, Moore-Barras struck him. A fight then began between the suspects and the two employees. Liquor bottles were knocked off the shelves, thrown at employees, and thrown around the store. As the suspects left the store with stolen liquor Trevor Moore-Barras struck the female witness who was dialing the police.
One of the Brown Jug employees followed the suspects until they were taken into custody by APD officers with the assistance of 5th Avenue Mall security officers.
Torrence Barras and Trevor Moore-Barras both attempted to assault arresting officers after their bail hearing at Anchorage Jail. They both had to be restrained, charges are still pending for assaulting the officers.
All suspects are scheduled for their arraignment today at 2:30 p.m.
Both Brown Jug employees needed emergency medical treatment for their injuries and broken facial bones.
