For eight-year-old Grace Rennard, a student at Trailside Elementary, this statistic did not seem accurate.
Grace, who lives with the genetic disorder, celiac disease, wanted to prove the prevalence of the disease for her upcoming science fair project. She asked her health care provider at My Health Clinic in Anchorage to sponsor her study by administering 133 celiac tests free of charge to test for the condition.
Jyll Green, the owner of My Health Clinic, was surprised by the 8-year-old's ambitious study. Green says [the project] "goes above and beyond the usual science project."
To participate in Grace's study by being tested for celiac's disease, visit the My Health Clinic at 2105 E. 88th Avenue. Tests will be administered until Saturday while supplies last.
