ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (KTLA) -- A South Pasadena police officer has died after collapsing at Burro Canyon Shooting Park.
Authorities say 23-year old Kevin Sandoval was doing firearms training Tuesday when he fell for an unknown reason and hit his head.
Paramedics who happened to be at the park began treating Sandoval immediately.
Sandoval was airlifted to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora where he was pronounced dead, according to Monterey Park Police Sgt. Frank Duke
A police spokesman says the injury to his head may not have killed Sandoval.
The incident is under investigation, Duke said.
Sandoval had been an officer with South Pasadena for only two years, Duke said.
He is survived by his sister and parents.
