SAN DIEGO – UCSD was the sight San Diego site of the global “Light It Up Blue” campaign, an effort to bring awareness to autism.
The Geisel Library was lit up in the color blue on April 2nd for 5 hours joining other iconic buildings such as the Empire State Building and Sydney Opera House in shining a light on autism.
"Light It Up Blue," in its third year, is a unique global initiative to help raise awareness about autism, a growing public health concern. Iconic landmarks as well as numerous residences and businesses around the world will "Light It Up Blue" to show their support, said organizers.
The Autism Center for Excellence at UC San Diego is one of six original National Institutes of Health-designated sites in the country. The goal of the Autism Center of Excellence program is to help families by establishing reliable biomedical indicators that will translate into rapid identification and early treatment for all children who need it.
