CHULA VISTA, Calif.—As part of an annual holiday charity drive, Chula Vista police joined church members and retired San Diego Chargers running back
Terrell Fletcher Tuesday in donating Thanksgiving turkeys to about 1,000 needy households this morning.
Volunteers, including high school students and Chula Vista police Chief David Bejarano, passed out the 1,000 roasting birds at a Wal-Mart on Broadway, according to police spokesman Bernard Gonzales.
Fletcher was asked by his friend and former teammate LaDainian Tomlinsion to continue with his annual "Giving Thanks with LT" that has been an annual Thanksgiving outreach for the past eight years.
The annual benefit was funded by the discount-store chain and City of Hope International Church.
