Peeping Tom discovered at bathroom window

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities asked the public Thursday for help in identifying a man caught spying on a University Heights woman through a bathroom window last weekend as she took a shower at her apartment.

The peeping Tom put a chair next to an exterior wall at the victim's residence on Sunday so he could peer inside, according to San Diego police. Seeing his face in the window, the woman yelled at him, prompting him to flee, SDPD public-affairs Lt. Andra Brown said.

The victim described the man as white or Hispanic and 30 to 40 years old, with a "small framed'' face and a long nose, the lieutenant said. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a dark-colored knit cap.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
