LA JOLLA, Calif. -- San Diego Sheriff's detectives arrested a 64-year-old woman Thursday for allegedly embezzling $1.5 million from a Solana Beach property company.

Jennifer Davey was taken into custody at a La Jolla CVS Pharmacy, where she works.  Taken outside in handcuffs, Davey told Fox 5 she had "no idea" why she was being arrested.

Sgt. Mark Varnau with the Sheriff's Department said Davey was a bookkeeper for Beckman Properties in Solana Beach from 2001-2008.  During that time, she's accused of writing herself more than 300 false and fraudulent checks.

The four year investigation started after Davey was fired, Varnau said. Davey also diverted money to help her daughter's La Jolla business, but she is not considered a suspect, according to investigators.

"She used company monies to pay her credit card bills, to make payments to herself, and for just about anything she wanted to buy," Varnau said.

Davey is being held on $2 million bail at Las Colinas Detention Center.

Attempts to reach Beckman Properties Thursday were unsuccessful.
