A spokesman for a hotel and conference center near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
confirmed that a guest was briefly hospitalized for Legionnaire’s disease Wednesday.
The water supply at the Supermedia Hotel and Conference Center near DFW Airport is
temporarily off due to a possible outbreak.
The individual, whose name has not been released, has been treated and released at a local
Legionnaire’s disease, once known as Legionellosis, is caused by a bacterium that is found in
soil and grows in water. Officials are not certain where the case originated and said no other
incidents have been reported at D/FW Airport.
Legionnaires can be a very dangerous bacteria, but is treatable when diagnosed early.
