Voice Media Group announced Monday its buyout of Village Voice Media Holdings, LLC. The purchase included alternative newspaper Seattle Weekly, as well as SF Weekly, LA Weekly, and others.
Not included in the buyout is Backpage.com, the controversial classified advertising service formerly owned by Village Voice Media. A storm of criticism has hit Backpage.com in recent years for its alleged hosting of child sex trafficking ads. Three minor girls filed suit against Backpage.com in Pierce County Superior Court in July claiming they were victims of human trafficking advertised on the site.

Backpage.com will become a separate company with separate ownership, according to the Voice Media Group Statement.
