A north Seattle elderly couple is recovering from a brutal attack Saturday.
It happened in broad daylight at a condo building at the corner of 15th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 123rd St.
Investigators described a horrific scene inside the small condo, an elderly couple, on the floor, bleeding.
They had been savagely beaten in the head with the butt of a rifle.
Neighbor Tammy Johnson says, "It's just nightmare. I don't know what to say. It's horrible. I've been here 7 years and I think it's getting worse and I want to move out of this place"
People living on the 4th floor of the building started calling police just before 5 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
A man, the callers said, was going door to door trying to break into condos, threatening to kill anyone inside, then he allegedly forced his way into the couple’s condo.
Neighbor Malania Calugas says, "I've lived in this neighborhood most of my life so that's just really shocking."
Police still don't know how the man got into the secure building. When they arrived they found him wondering on the 4th floor, covered with blood brandishing a rifle.
After a confrontation, Officers tasered the man and placed him under arrest
Neighbor David Gustin says, "It's a dangerous world but I'm glad that he's off the street and hopefully won't do that again."
Neighbor James Barron says, "There's violence everywhere, stuff happens all the time, I'm sure, and you never hear about it but when something like this occurs just down the street from where you live. It kind of makes you even more aware of your surroundings and just to be more cautious."
The suspected attacker was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
He’s expected to be charged with two counts of assault.
