7.2-magnitude earthquake strikes central Chile
A 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit central Chile on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The earthquake was at a depth of 18.6 miles (30 km) and struck 16 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Talca, the USGS said. It had originally reported the quake was offshore.

No tsunami warning was issued and authorities canceled an evacuation order that had been issued for parts of the coast.

Talca was one of the cities hit hard by a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake in 2010.
