Valley Police Beat: CHP involved in three-car collision on Interstate 8
A number of California Highway Patrol vehicle lined Interstate 8 near the on-ramp off of Fourth Street after one of the highway patrol vehicles was involved in a three-car collision on Monday evening. (ELIZABETH VARIN.Varin/July 22, 2013 / July 23, 2013)
No major injuries were reported, however the CHP officer involved in the incident did complain of minor pain, according to Steve Salcedo, a responding CHP officer on the scene.

IMPERIAL COUNTY — An individual sustained major injuries following a two car traffic collision on the intersection of East Ross Road and Bowler Road in El Centro on Monday.
The Holtville Fire Department and California Highway Patrol both responded to the scene, which occurred around 5 p.m. that evening.
Responding firefighters did not have many details on the incident, however they did confirm that an individual involved in the incident was taken to a local hospital after sustaining major injuries following their ejection from their vehicle.
More information on the incident is currently pending further investigation by CHP.
Man cited for drugs
IMPERIAL COUNTY — A 21-year-old unidentified male was detained and cited at 4:54 p.m. Friday at the Highway 86 Border Patrol checkpoint for possessing drug paraphernalia, logs stated. A methamphetamine pipe and small amount of meth was found on the man.

Women sustains major injuries following a car crash on I-8
IMPERIAL COUNTY — A woman sustained major injuries after she was ejected from her car as it collided with a guardrail and later into a mountain side Sunday afternoon.
The woman was driving Eastbound on Interstate 8, about 2 1/2 miles near Highway 98, at around 2:55 p.m. when the incident occurred, said Ernesto Ruedas, the California Highway Patrol public information officer.
Traveling on a wet road without her seat belt, the woman was ejected from her car after she crashed into a guardrail and trailed off the road and into a mountain side, Ruedas said.
The woman was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center for major injuries. The passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time, was sent to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, Ruedas said.
