Valley Police Beat: Body found behind Calexico market
The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a body that was found at 2 p.m. Saturday behind the California Market on Imperial Avenue in Calexico.
The cause of death was unknown, according to sheriff’s logs.
El Centro: Man arrested for allegedly brandishing weapon
El Centro police were called to the 1000 block of El Centro Avenue at 10:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a man threatening to stab someone.
Based on information from the reporting party, 55-year-old Henry Padilla was eventually stopped and arrested for allegedly brandishing a weapon, according to police logs.
Purse stolen from vehicle
A vehicle parked at the Fairfield Inn in the 500 block of Danenberg Drive was reportedly burglarized at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police logs. A purse valued at $200, a $200 mobile phone, $500 in cash as well as an ATM card and passport were in the stolen purse.
Winterhaven: Pit bull kills dog
Imperial County sheriff’s responded to a call at 4:50 p.m. Friday about a pit bull having killed the reporting party’s dog at an undisclosed address.
The pit bull had reportedly been tied up by the reporting party and Quechan reservation police were notified of the incident, according to sheriff’s logs.
Imperial County: Man cited for drugs
A 21-year-old unidentified male was detained and cited at 4:54 p.m. Friday at the Highway 86 Border Patrol checkpoint for possessing drug paraphernalia, logs stated. A methamphetamine pipe and small amount of meth was found on the man.
Niland: Two bodies found
Two bodies were found at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Slabs, according to sheriff’s logs. A rifle was reportedly found next to one of the bodies. No further information was given.
