Campers Get Up Close With The Painting Opossum

Campers at the Children's Museum of West Hartford 's summer camp got an up-close experience with the museum's mammals.

The camp, which has a different theme each week, saw campers focused on mammals the week of July 30 through Aug. 3.

On Aug. 1, the campers spent some time with the museum's groundhog, Cider, and the museum's opossum, Dorian.

Campers fed and petted Cider dandelion stems and corn. After learning about Dorian and opossums, the campers got to watch him put his best talent on display: painting. Dorian creates abstract paintings using his feet.

The museum was bringing Dorian and its box turtles, who also paint, to the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon to show off their painting skills to professional artists.
