A group of about a dozen people broke out into dance during a flash mob Tuesday night at Blue Back Square.
The group, organized by Sharyn Farrell of Dancealife Productions, danced to "El Mismo Sol" by Jennifer Lopez during a drum circle performance by Hands on Drumming.
Farrell said she chose "El Mismo Sol," which translates to "the same sun," because "we all have that in common, so we might as well get along." She wanted the performance to be inspiring to all ages and abilities and "bring people together through music," she said.
Farrell said she collaborated with Hands On Drumming to hold the flash mob during their "Circle in the Square" performance.
The group rehearsed inside the Noah Webster Library hours before performing when the practice location she previously reserved became unavailable, she said.
The drummers resumed performing after the song ended, while the flash mob continued to dance.
After Tuesday's display, Farrell said she wants to continue leading flash mobs outside of Connecticut.
"My goal is to do it around the world," she said.
