Trooper Was Involved In Last Week's Six-Car Pileup In West Hartford, Police Say

A state trooper was one of the seven people involved in a six-car pileup at a busy West Hartford intersection last week, police said.

Some of the motorists suffered minor injuries, Police Capt. Jeffrey Rose said Tuesday. One person was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford and another was transported to the UConn Health Center in Farmington.

The crash happened at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Trout Brook Drive Aug. 2, when the trooper was driving east on Albany Avenue, Rose said. The trooper was headed to an emergency call in Willimantic with his lights and siren on.

He drove through a red light at the intersection and struck two cars headed south on Trout Brook Drive, Rose said. He then veered off and hit three cars headed north on Trout Brook, he said.

Rose said the crash remains under investigation.
