WEST HARTFORD — Blue Back Square will see its second fitness business when Pure Barre opens in February.
Pure Barre will open its fifth Connecticut location at 115 Memorial Road, next to Rizzuto's, in mid- to late-February, owner Stephanie Lin said.
"Pure Barre focuses on areas of the body that clients struggle with most: arms, thighs, seat and abdominal area," Lin said.
Blue Back Square Marketing Director Elizabeth Zigmont said the studio will take over the space left vacant by Santander bank last summer. New York Sports Club, located at 65 Memorial Road, is the only other workout facility on site, she said.
Other fitness studios in the Center area include cycling studio Tribe, at 1003 Farmington Ave., and personal training studio Fitness Continuum, at 20 Isham Road.
"We are happy to have [Pure Barre] at Blue Back," Zigmont said. "It will be a great addition to our mix of retailers."
The studio, which has more than 300 locations in North America, features classes that use tiny, asymmetric movements and use of ballet barre Lin said.
Classes are driven by motivating music and always begin with warm-up, Lin said. She said she plans to offer five classes a day, seven days a week.
Before opening her own studio, Lin said she was a Pure Barre client, and took more than 100 classes in one of the Boston studios.
Lin declined to talk about the price of classes in West Hartford. A single class at Pure Barre's Fairfield location is $28 and a one month membership for new clients is $125, according to that location's website..
