West Hartford Police K-9 Helps Find Missing Man

A half-hour after a man was reported missing from The Reservoir long-term health care facility off Farmington Avenue, police said K-9 Jett found the man in a wooded area near the facility.

The 56-year-old man reported missing was found with minor injuries and was alert but confused, police said. The man told police he left The Reservoir to look for his vehicle. Police said he was taken to UConn Health Center to be evaluated.

Police have not released the man's name pending confirmation that his family has been notified.

Staff from the long-term health care facility called police at about 10 p.m., police said, after checking the building for the man. Staff told police the man was last seen in his room after 8 p.m. and was not there at 9 p.m.

West Hartford Police K-9 Officer Tommy Lazure and K-9 Jett were among the numerous officers dispatched to search for the man. Police said K-9 Jett tracked the man to a wooded area near the facility.
