Stamford Police Declare 74-Year-Old Woman's Death A Homicide

Police in Stamford are investigating the homicide of a 74-year-old woman in her home.

Eden Claxton was found dead in her 315 Hycliff Terrace home early Monday morning after her husband, Allen Claxton, 75, called police, investigators said.

Shortly after police arrived, Allen Claxton was taken to Hartford Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police did not disclose the suspected cause of death.

Allen Claxton has provided a “certain level of cooperation,” officials said Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was initially being investigated as an “untimely death,” but police declared the death a homicide after forensic testing, interviews and a search of the home, they said.

Police believe the homicide was an isolated incident.

Stamford Mayor David Martin said in a statement that he had been briefed by police.

“This situation is heartbreaking and disturbing, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family,” Martin said.
