Former Hartford Colonials coach and GM Chris Palmer, who coached with the New York Giants, the Patriots, the Titans, the Cowboys, the 49ers, the Bills, the Texans and the Browns, was introduced Tuesday as the athletic director at the University of New Haven. He worked with Drew Bledsoe, Eli Manning and Tony Romo, among others, and served as the Colonials’ coach in 2010 in the only season the team played in the United Football League. Palmer went to Southern Connecticut, where he played quarterback, and coached at New Haven during the 1986-87 season. Palmer replaces Duane Bailey, who was hired in May 2017 as athletic director, replacing the retired Debbie Chin, but is not employed at New Haven anymore. Regarding Bailey, a university spokesman said the school wouldn’t comment on personnel issues.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is dating race car driver Danica Patrick, Patrick told The Associated Press on Monday. Patrick used to be a die-hard Bears fan whose favorite player was Brian Urlacher but has now switched allegiances to the other team in one of the NFL’s oldest rivalries. The couple originally met at the ESPYs at 2012 but didn’t start dating until recently. Our question is: Who drives on dates?
Is Ben McAdoo the man to fix the Cleveland Browns’ offense? McAdoo, the man who benched Eli Manning and was fired by the Giants shortly thereafter, interviewed for the Browns’ offensive coordinator position, according to cleveland.com. The Giants only won three games this past season; the Browns have won one game in the past two years.
An Eagles fan who didn’t have a ticket to Saturday’s playoff game between the Eagles and the Falcons but somehow got into the stadium was thrown out of Lincoln Financial Field and was so mad he allegedly punched a police horse. Taylor Hendricks, 22, was charged with aggravated assault and taunting a police animal, among other charges.
Former Rock Cat Justin Morneau, who went on to be the American League MVP in 2006, will announce his retirement Wednesday. Morneau, who played for the Rock Cats mainly in 2002-2003, played for the Twins for 10 years, as well as the Pirates and the Rockies, with whom he won the NL batting title in 2014. Morneau, 36, will serve as a special assistant to the Twins.

Pirates fans were unhappy their franchise player and 2013 NL MVP Andrew McCutchen got traded to the Giants Monday, and McCutchen was not all that happy about leaving, either. He tweeted: “Pittsburgh.My Home.My Fans.My City. The place that raised me and helped mold me into the man I am today. You will 4ever be in my heart.”
