Slot Revenues Down In June At Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun

Connecticut's casinos reported a decline in slot revenue for June compared with the same month a year ago, illustrating less profitability as consumers have more gambling options in the Northeast.

Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket reported slot revenue of $37.7 million for June, down 13.1 percent from $43.4 million in June 2013. Mohegan Sun in Uncasville reported slot revenue of $45.3 million, down 10.3 percent from $50.5 million in June 2013.

The total amount wagered at Foxwoods, which is called the slots' handle, was $479.1 million, down 5.3 percent from $505.9 million in June 2013. Mohegan Sun's handle was $574.9 million, down 10.2 percent from $640.4 million in June 2013.

The casinos contribute 25 percent of their slot revenue to the state each month. For June, Foxwoods contributed $10.1 million and Mohegan Sun's contribution was $11.33 million.

Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have reported a year-over-year decline in monthly slot revenue steadily since the end of 2011 with few exceptions.
