Septemberfest This Weekend At Simsbury Arts Center

SIMSBURY — For the seventh consecutive year, Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center's Septemberfest celebration returns to town this weekend.

The three-day event kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. A fireworks show is scheduled for 9 p.m. that night.

Saturday's activities run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The festival wraps up at 4 p.m. Sunday.

"It's really a lot of fun," Performing Arts Center Manager Thomas Vincent said. "It's geared for the whole family to come enjoy a nice day in our community."

Each day of the weekend offers a different musical theme – country music for Friday, dance and rock music for Saturday, a jazz brunch for Sunday morning and more dance music on Saturday.

Performers include the Simsbury Community Band and the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music.

Throughout the weekend, there will be children's activities, including 35 inflatable rides and games, and a train ride. There will also be tethered hot air balloon rides on Saturday.

Performances and other acts will be dispersed among three stages and include a mountain bike stunt show, magicians, a petting zoo and puppeteers.

Live music will be performed every hour on the hour. There are 14 food vendors and more than 55 booths from retailers and organizations in the greater Hartford area.

New this year is a beer tasting, scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Vincent said.

Admission is $5 and is good for the whole weekend, with children aged 13 and under getting in free. The price does not cover food, drinks or use of the inflatables.
