Rockville High School hosted its 25th annual Festival of Bands, on Oct. 14.
Thirteen bands performed in the competition. Performing in exhibition were Rockville's own award-winning marching band and Central Connecticut State University's marching band.
CCSU was also given an appreciation award, which was accepted by members (and RHS alums) Kaitlyn Rice and Josh Hollm.
The competing bands were scored in the areas of best music, best percussion, best visuals, best overall effects, and best color guard.
In class 1-A, Manchester placed fourth with a score of 75.475, South Hadley (Massachusetts) placed third with 78.45, East Lyme placed second with a score of 80.45, and Rocky Hill took first place with a score of 80.7.
In Class 3-A, Central High School (Springfield, Massachusetts) took first with a score of 78.225. In Class 4-A, Sheehan High School (Wallingford) took first with a score of 85.45. In class 5-A, Ellington High School took second with a score of 78.95 and Berlin High School took first with a score of 79.7. Enfield High School took first place in Class 6-A, with a score of 79.0.
In Class 2 Open, Robert E. Fitch High School (Groton) took first place with an impressive score of 89.125.
The Class 4 Open title was taken by Norwich Free Academy, with a score of 86.475.
