Rosa Luisa DeLauro (born March 2, 1943)

DeLauro is the U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 3rd congressional district, serving since 1991. She is a member of the Democratic Party. DeLauro was born in New Haven, and she earned her high school diploma from The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall in Milford. She worked as an administrative assistant and chief of staff for U.S. Senator Chris Dodd before entering the House of Representatives. In 1990, four-term incumbent U.S. Congressman Bruce Morrison of Connecticut's 3rd congressional district decided to retire. DeLauro ran for the open seat and defeated her Republican contender. She won re-election to her twelfth term in 2012, according to the <a href="http://articles.courant.com/2012-11-06/news/hc-ct-3rd-district-rosa-delauro-wayne-winsley-1107-20121101_1_delauro-wayne-winsley-connecticut-s-3rd-district">Hartford Courant</a>.
