Nearly 200 Years Of Masonic History in Bristol

BRISTOL - Members of the Franklin Lodge of Masons will give a presentation Oct. 23 at the Bristol Historical Society about the history of Masons in the city.

Masons were active in Bristol as far back as 1819, and the Shepard home on Hill Street on Chippens Hill was an early meeting site, according to the organization. In the early 1890s Masons built the Masonic Building on Main Street; they used the third floor, and the rest of the building was the Muzzy Brothers Department Store.

The program starts at 7 p.m. at the museum at 98 Summer St. Admission is $5. For details visit or call 860 583-6309.
