A teacher at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts’ Colt Gateway campus has been placed on leave as state officials and police investigate a report of an inappropriate relationship between the teacher and a student.
Greg Florio, executive director of Capital Region Education Council, which runs the school, said district leaders notified authorities and the state Department of Children and Families after they were alerted to the situation on Wednesday.
He did not identify the teacher.
“Upon receiving this allegation, we immediately placed the teacher on leave,” Florio said in a statement Friday. “We are cooperating fully with authorities as this matter is investigated. The safety of our students is always our top priority.”
CREC officials said a letter was sent to parents this week notifying them.
The arts academy includes a middle school and high school.
