When a food vendor canceled on the Urban League of Greater Hartford on Friday night, it seemed like the organization’s Breakfast with Santa event would be canceled, too.
That’s when The Cook and the Bear stepped in.
As Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley told his Twitter followers Saturday, the West Hartford barbecue restaurant worked through the night to make breakfast for about 100 children attending the league’s event at St. Francis Hospital’s Innovation and Learning Center.
Heroes, Foley called the restaurant crew.
The Urban League also thanked the restaurant on social media for its help in pulling off the event, where kids could come to eat, get a picture with Santa Claus and take home a toy.
“This is the true spirit of the Holiday Season!” the non-profit organization wrote.
