NEW HAVEN – One victim died and one is in stable condition after a shooting in New Haven late Friday night, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Kensington Street and Chapel Street around 10 p.m. Friday after multiple reports of shots fired, Officer David Hartman said in a release. Hartman said the responding officers found two gunshot victims at the scene.
Tyrese Jones, 26, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased around midnight due to his injuries.
Troy Mitchell, 26, was found with multiple non-life threatening gunshot wounds and was also sent to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Hartman said a gun was recovered at the scene, yet officers have not determined whose gun it is.
Major Crimes Division is looking for a "black man who wore denim blue jeans and a dark colored shirt," according to the release.
