The New England Whalers
The New England Whalers played 7 seasons in the World Hockey Association from 1972 until 1979, and made the playoffs in every season. They won the Avco World Trophy when they defeated the Winnipeg Jets in the 1973 finals, and won three straight Eastern Division Titles. In 1979, the Whalers were one of 4 teams to be invited to join the National Hockey League after the WHA folded. Please enjoy these extremely rare photos dug out of the Courant archives of the New England Whalers in action.
