Police: Vehicle Pulled From Pond Was Reported Stolen

MILFORD — A red Honda Accord pulled from an icy pond behind a home on Tomahawk Lane Sunday was reported stolen earlier in the day, police said.

Police and fire officials headed to the pond shortly after 2 p.m. Someone had seen the car poking out of the frigid water and called for help.

A dive team searched the pond, but found no one in or near the vehicle, firefighters said. The car was later removed.

The Honda, a 2009 model, had been reported stolen in West Haven earlier Sunday, said Michael DeVito, a Milford police spokesman.

Officers are also investigating a burglary that occurred not far from the Milford pond. It was unclear if the break-in and the submerged vehicle had any connection, DeVito said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Sgt. Jeff Cortes at 203-878-6551.
