Joe Catania and Joe Ferreira each ran for a score and combined for 209 rushing yards to help Rocky Hill remain undefeated with a 26-10 win over Berlin in CCC interdivision play Friday at Rocky Hill High, handing Berlin its first loss of the season. Catania and Ferreira both scored in the second quarter for Rocky Hill (9-0). Kevin Dunn’s third-quarter TD run helped Berlin (8-1) narrow the gap to 16-10 but the Terriers padded their lead with a field goal from Catania and a fourth-quarter TD run by Danny Cavallaro.
Middletown 55, Platt 20: Mike Aresco kicked the 22nd field goal of his high school career to set an all-time Connecticut record as Middletown defeated Platt in a CCC interdivison game at Middletown High. Stone Belzo passed for three touchdowns and Tyreece Lumpkin rushed for two in the win for Middletown (9-0). Aresco’s field goal came from 43 yards out in the third quarter. Platt falls to 4-5.
Maloney 12, Conard 10: Larue Graham scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 17-yard run early in the fourth quarter to help Maloney edge Conard in a CCC interdivision game from Falcon Field in Meriden. Graham completed 10 of 24 passes for 65 yards and had two interceptions. Aden Valentin punched in a touchdown in the second quarter and carried the ball 26 times for 120 yards for Maloney (8-1). Jack Moore completed 13 of 24 passes for Conard (5-4) for 100 yards and a passing touchdown.
Simsbury 24, Glastonbury 6: Rafael Nieves rushed for two touchdowns to help Simsbury (6-3) defeat Glastonbury in a CCC interdivision matchup at Glastonbury High. Nieves carried the ball 28 times for 214 yards and his two touchdowns. Quarterback Jackson Masters also had a touchdown pass and was 6-for-11 for 126 yards. Glastonbury (3-6) running back Matthew Tenney rushed for 90 yards on 14 carries while Ryan Molinari had an interception and eight tackles, and Zach Tabellione had 14 tackles on defense.
Bloomfield 28, RHAM 25: Anthony Simpson rushed for two touchdowns to help Bloomfield to a comeback victory over RHAM in a CCC interdivision game from Phil Rubin Stadium at Bloomfield High. Simpson scored twice in the third quarter to shrink a 14-0 RHAM halftime lead to 14-12. A fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Daron Brydon to Justice Mansfield and a rushing TD by Ky'Juon Butler helped give Bloomfield (7-2) the victory.
Stafford/East Windsor/Somers 20, North Branford 14: Colton Engel rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Stafford co-op over North Branford in a Pequot interdivision game from Stafford High. Engel finished with 254 yards on 36 carries. John Kopek led the team defensively with 10 tackles (two for a loss) and two sacks and Jalen Irving added seven tackles (one for loss). North Branford falls to 4-5.
Haddam-Killingworth 14, Old Saybrook/Westbrook 7: Cody Ellex and Jake Frith each rushed for a touchdown to help Haddam-Killingworth (6-3) beat the Old Saybrook co-op (7-2) in a Pequot Sassacus game at Haddam-Killingworth High. Old Saybrook's Vincent Dyer threw a fourth-quarter TD pass to Victor Pascoe to narrow the deficit to a score, but was intercepted by H-K's James Murphy with just over three minutes remaining to seal the loss. Frith finished with 13 carries for 91 yards.
Rockville 42, Canton 22: Ben Ambro threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth to lead Rockville to its first win of the season, topping Canton in a Pequot Uncas game on senior night at Rockville High. Nick Attardo (15 carries, 157 yards) and Jonathan O'Coin (17 for 90) notched rushing touchdowns for Rockville (1-8) and Tyler Allen caught one of Ambro's TD passes before returning a fumble for a score. Dugan Lloyd of Canton (1-8) ran for two scores and threw a TD pass to Jack Rivette.
Sheehan 41, East Haven 0: Jordan Davis rushed for three touchdowns to help Sheehan (8-1) defeat East Haven in an SCC Tier 3 matchup at East Haven High. Davis finished with 115 yards on 17 carries.Wes Terzi led the offense through the air, going 20-for-27 for 177 yards and two touchdowns mostly targeting Evan Mansfield, who had eight catches for 71 yards. Jake Smith added five catches for 59 yards. East Haven falls to 1-8.
Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton/Lyman Memorial 40, Granby 0: Nick Pronovost scored five touchdowns to help lead the Coventry co-op to a Pequot Uncas victory over Granby at Coventry High. Pronovost rushed for two touchdowns and caught three touchdown passes from Jacob Carlson, who also added a rushing TD for Coventry (9-0). Granby falls to 3-6.
Capital Prep/Achievement First 27, Bullard-Havens 6: Kyle Zajack threw two touchdown passes to help the Capital Prep co-op hand Bullard Havens its first loss of the season in a nonconference game at Dillon Stadium in Hartford. Zajack connected with O'Neil Robinson and Anthony Benefield for TDs, going 13-for-18 for 283 yards. Khyon Gillespie also rushed for two touchdowns for Capital Prep (4-4).
