High School Football Ratings: Loss Drops Southington From State Top 10

With all but one team winning, the state top 10 remains relatively unchanged heading into the final slate of games before Thanksgiving Week kicks off. Fifteen teams unofficially claimed playoff spots over the weekend, including eight of the top-10 teams. Southington drops out of the state top 10 following its second loss of the season, in overtime to South Windsor, replaced by New Canaan. Southington and New Canaan are both 7-2, seeded eighth in their classes (LL and L), and both need a win on Thanksgiving Day to reach the playoffs. The winner of the Apple Valley Classic between Southington and Cheshire could see the winner taking the final playoff berth in Class LL. The Rams face Darien. A loss knocks them out, unless Bunnell loses to town rival Stratford.

In the area top 10, Southington drops to fifth. South Windsor leapfrogs ahead of both Southington and East Hartford (having beaten both) into third. Despite losing to Rocky Hill, Berlin drops just one spot thanks, to South Windsor's move.
