High School Football Fabulous 15

Each week during the high school football season, beat writer Sean Begin evaluates to top individual performances in the area and selects his Fabulous 15. The best from Week 9:

Jordan Davis and Nathan Zona, Sheehan-Wallingford: Combining for 184 yards and four touchdowns, Davis (three carries, 89 yards, two TDs) and Zona (seven for 94, two TDs) carried Sheehan to a 62-8 win at Bassick-Bridgeport.

Vincent Dyer, Old Saybrook/ Westbrook: The senior made an impact on both sides of the ball, rushing 13 times for 184 yards and four touchdowns and hauling in two interceptions, returning one 39 yards for a TD in the Rams' 55-25 win at North Branford.

Devin Hill, SMSA/University/ Classical: The sophomore QB was stellar in a 40-0 win over Canton, going 7-for-11 for 210 yards and three touchdowns (all of which went more than 40 yards) and added a fourth TD on the ground.

Jalen Irving, John Kopek and Andrew Napolitano, Stafford/Somers/East Windsor: Irving (seven tackles, five for loss), Kopek (10 tackles, fumble recovery) and Napolitano (seven tackles, one for loss) led a stringent defensive effort in a 6-2 win over Ellington, just the second in program history.

Tomasz Johnson, Windsor: The senior transfer impressed again, rushing 18 times for 170 yards and four touchdowns as the Warriors defeated Hartford Public at home, 32-12.

Kevon Jones, East Hartford: Jones continues to be a force on both sides of the ball. He had 10 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown, added 77 yards and another TD on four catches and notched nine tackles on defense in the Hornets' 28-7 win over New Britain.

Will Levis, Xavier-Middletown: The Penn State-bound QB shined again, going 22-for-35 for 370 yards and four touchdowns, and adding a fifth score on the ground, to help the Falcons top Hamden, 47-20.

Dalton Modehn, Haddam- Killingworth:The sophomore, finished with 15 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns, including a 71-yard TD run, to help the Cougars top Lewis Mills, 35-13.

Rafael Nieves, Simsbury: The senior running back had 35 carries for 224 yards and two touchdowns to help Simsbury roll to a 24-0 win at Manchester.

Matt Osgood, Rocky Hill: The Terriers love to run the ball, so Osgood made efficient use of his touches Friday, hauling in three touchdowns and 105 yards on just five catches as Rocky Hill beat Avon, 42-0.

Xzavier Reyes, Middletown: The Blue Dragons running back continues his strong junior season, rushing for 178 yards and a touchdown in Middletown's win at Hudson Catholic (N.J.).

Connor Rich, Northwest Catholic- West Hartford: The junior QB had a solid day, rushing 20 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns and adding 118 yards on 7-for-7 passing in a 34-6 win over Bulkeley/HMTCA/Weaver.

Isaiah Rivera, E.O. Smith-Storrs: The senior running back had nine carries for 129 yards, including a touchdown run that went for 94 yards, for the Panthers in a 38-7 win over Farmington.

Manny Sanchez, CREC Co-op: Sanchez had himself a day, rushing for 346 yards and six touchdowns on 27 carries and hauling in a seventh touchdown on a 53-yard pass in the Colts' 55-34 win over Windham.

Aden Valentin, Maloney-Meriden: The senior running back was at it again, rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns as to help the Spartans defeat Newington on the road, 41-10.
