Jazz & Wine

SOUTH WINDSOR — Quintessential, a student-organized and directed jazz combo of five from the Hebron RHAM High School, for Friday Night at The Wood: Jazz & Wine, taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Wood Memorial Library, 783 Main St. The snowdate is Saturday, Jan. 28.

Quintessential gives their own flair to the jazz classics of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins and other greats. The talented band members from local towns include Garrett Masotti on piano, Olivia Knightly on bass, Jacob Ouellette on drums, Aaron Ouellette on trumpet, and Paul Tamburro on trombone.

Cassidy Hill Vineyard, a local Coventry winery, will provide a sampling of their well-rated wines for tasting. Light refreshments will be served.This event is for adults only. Pre-registration is required. The fee for this event is $15 per person or $25 per couple, payable in advance to Wood. Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa or MC.

Free Video Production Training Program

WINDHAM — Northeastern CT Community Access TV is now taking applications for our Free Public Access Internship program at our Studio at 207 Tuckie Road. Interns get hands on experience in all aspects of video production. We cover community events and public affairs shows for airing on Charter channel 192, Frontier channel 99, and on www.CTV192.com. Interns have the opportunity to use their new skills to produce their your own Public Access Television Programs.

Internships are non-paid and are open on a first come, first serve basis to residents in our studio's service area. Interns must reside in one of the following towns to be eligible for internship: Ashford, Brooklyn, Chaplin, Coventry, Canterbury, Columbia, Eastford, Hampton, Lebanon, Mansfield, Pomfret, Scotland, Thompson, Windham, Woodstock, and Willington.

HARTFORD — Operation Fuel's statewide winter energy assistance program has begun taking applications. Families and individuals who are struggling financially and need energy assistance should call 211 to find their closest fuel bank.
