Hamden Man Sentenced To 5 Years For Gun Offense

A town resident received a 5-year prison sentence Monday for illegal possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Isaac Long, 37, must also serve four years of supervised release, a federal judge ordered in Hartford. New Haven police arrested Long in October 2015 after he was found in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol and crack cocaine he intended to deal, the attorney's office said.

Long pleaded guilty in December to one count of possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. He will begin serving his federal sentence after completing a two-year state sentence that he is currently serving.
