Fire Tore Through Tractor Trailer On I-395, Emergency Dispatchers Say

A tractor-trailer fire shut down part of I-395 north between exits 21 and 22 in Griswold, near the Lisbon line, early Friday, according to a regional dispatch center.

No one was injured in the fire, which consumed a trailer carrying a food product — possibly wonton noodles, said Travis Irons, operations director of Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications.

The highway was closed in both directions after the fire ignited about 12:20 a.m. near Exit 22 in Griswold, formerly Exit 85, Irons aid. After 7:23 a.m., one lane of traffic was allowed to pass the scene.

Firefighters from Lisbon and Voluntown were called to help Griswold fire crews.
