A Griswold man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an October crash in which his 4-year-old daughter was fatally injured, police said.
David Ali, 28, turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued and was charged with second-degree manslaughter, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, risk of injury to a minor and reckless driving, among other charges.
The two-car crash happened Oct. 31 on Route 184, also known as the Gold Star Highway. Ali was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on Route 184 when he turned left towards Packer Road and was struck by a BMW traveling east, police said.
The BMW continued eastward and rolled over, police said. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.
Ali and the passenger in the Camry, Cheryl Mackin, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. The third person in the car, 4-year-old Delilah Ali, was flown from Lawrence and Memorial via Life Star helicopter to Yale-New Haven Hospital and died from her injuries, police said.
Ali was held on $250,000 bail. Groton police said no further arrests are expected.
