Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she is calling for a day of remembrance on Monday to honor those who died in the shootings at Hartford Distributors in Manchester. Governor Rell asked that a moment of silence be observed at 9:15 a.m.
"The tragedy at Hartford Distributors has been a profoundly deep reminder to all of us that life is very fragile and that we should never take for granted the time we have with our loved ones. What began as an average workday -- a day that began so utterly unexceptionally -- ended with enormous grief and emptiness.
"The men who died were not strangers to us. They were fathers, husbands, sons and brothers -- and we can relate to the love and loss that each family feels. They hailed from communities large and small. They were neighbors, coaches -- friends.
"The friends and families of the men who died can never replace what was lost. It is important that they have our support and our prayers during this difficult time. That is why I am asking that at 9:15 a.m. on Monday everyone take a moment to silently remember those who died and those they left behind."Copyright © 2015, CT Now
