Foxwoods Resort Casino announced Thursday that promoters of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and concert tours for Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Kanye West will be booking musical performances at its Connecticut casino and anywhere else Foxwoods may do business.
AEG Live of Los Angeles will also assist Foxwoods in branching out to develop new entertainment venues. The price of the new agreement was not disclosed.
AEG Live is the nation's second=largest concert promoter after Live Nation, according to Billboard Magazine. The company produces Coachella and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
AEG Live is currently managing concert tours for Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Bon Jovi, Carrie Underwood, Cher, Enrique Iglesias, J Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Kenny Chesney, Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, The WHO, Trey Songz and Juanes.
AEG Live also produces such comedy tours as Flight of the Conchords, Portlandia, The Kids In the Hall, Ricky Gervais, Jim Jefferies and Bo Burnham. AEG Live has divisions for concert touring, festivals, broadcast, merchandise and special events.
"Bringing world class entertainers to Foxwoods' two magnificent theaters is an important part of setting us apart from other gaming and resort destinations," said Scott Butera, president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The agreement was to enhance Foxwoods competitive edge, Butera said. The gambling industry is getting more competitive in the Northeast as some venues have already expanded their offerings, and New York is about to add resort casinos. Massachusetts is also about to add three resort casinos and a slots parlor unless voters in November repeal the 2011 law allowing casinos.
Butera said AEG has "thousands of acts" to complement Foxwoods' entertainment.
"Having AEG Live as a partner will provide recognition of the Foxwoods brand, the high quality of our entertainment venues and a commitment to provide once in a lifetime, luxurious experience for our guests," Butera said in a statement.
