Lawmakers return to the Capitol once again, the Yard Goats have an exciting new announcement (no, not opening day) and the latest on the UCLA shooting in today's Five Things To Know.
1. Special Session
It’s the legislative session that just won’t end. The House will return to the Capitol once again Thursday to vote on some pending legislation. The biggest law up for debate? Gov. Malloy’s now-watered down Second Chance bill.
2. Q Poll
Buckle up, it’s going to be a long five months until November. The latest Quinnipiac poll found Hillary Clinton with a slight edge over Donald Trump in a national poll. The results revealed a sharp divide not only among men and women but also among minority and white voters.
A murder-suicide took the lives of two men on UCLA’s campus Wednesday. It’s unclear how the two men knew each other, but one of the victims was an engineering professor. The shooting took place the week before final exams.
The furor surrounding the death of a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo has not yet subsided. On Wednesday, police released the 911 call from the mother of the boy who fell into the enclosure, prompting the fatal shooting of the animal.
5. Yard Goats
The bad news? Still no date for when the Yard Goats will play in Hartford. The good news? There’s now a team-specific beer. Hooker Brewery unveiled the Nectar of the Goats ale Wednesday night.
