A motorcyclist died in a crash on Route 20 Tuesday, state police said.
The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. on Route 20, or Rainbow Road. A 2002 Subaru Impreza driven by Robert Earl McArthur, 61, of Harwinton was leaving the Phillips 66 gas station, 150 Rainbow Road, and turning left when an eastbound 2009 Yamaha struck the left side of the car, state police said.
The motorcyclist, Joseph Peter Sandamena, 24, of Windsor, was thrown. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
McArthur was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were considered minor, they said.
Route 20 was closed while investigators gathered evidence and took measurements.
The investigation continues. Any witnesses are encouraged to call Trooper Andreas Spoerk at the Troop H barracks in Hartford, 860-534-1000.
